It is "Rumor" Time Again

Still waiting to see if the Listening Tour events are going to be shared online. Nothing has been posted to the KCKPS You Tube channel as of now (10-11-18) but the site will be monitored to see if any gets posted.

There are a few rumors running through the community right now so if you have any information about these topics, please share with this community.

First "rumor" is that the administrative offices on the third floor at Central Office have been locked down with a buzzer/voice package having been installed for entry.  The fear is that the voice package is being kept on all the time so that all hallway conversations can be reviewed.  Anyone know anything about this?

Second, a member of the community has shared that departments previously housed on the second floor at Central Office are being asked to vacate their spaces. One comment even has the ESL group meeting in a business store front in Bonner Springs.  Any word on this would be very welcome.

As you hear or see items that should interest everyone following this blog, please share here or on the Facebook page.

There has been a shake up in the school district. ESL ICs have been removed from central office and moved to schools. Also the curriculum ICs were moved into buildings. ICs were also moved around to different schools as a restructuring and trying to provide more support to lower performing schools. I have also heard the recording conversations on the third floor but can not confirm if that is true.

I’ve been supportive and shared a lot since this mess began in January, but this post needs to be deleted. It will just scare people for no reason. Foust wanted the office to be more secure, so there weren’t random members of the public just walking in and sitting down in people’s offices. That actually happens. They don’t record anything, except when you press the button. Then it rings department staff to let you in or speak with you over the intercom. I would have just fired whichever receptionist was just letting random people in the building without verifying where they were going or if they had an appointment. That’s where the accountability should have landed. The cameras and buzzers were unnecessary if the receptionists are doing their jobs.

As for 2nd floor, they didn’t need to be here anyway. They should be in the buildings working with teachers and students. There isn’t enough room in the central office building for the functions that actually need to be housed there. Much of the 2nd floor staff doesn’t need to be there and 1st floor is taken up by a big “library” no one ever goes to. A very necessary change.
